European Cleantech Challenge : What happened to previous participants ?

Are you still hesitating on whether you should participate in the European Cleantech Challenge or not ? Sure, meeting business angels and VCs in an International Roadshow sounds like a great idea. However, is it worth the travel time and cost spent for all these Arena Meetings? Well, let’s take a look at what happened to Agroils Technology, a renewable energy company who participated in the Cleantech Challenge. Last March, we were glad to report that the Italian start-up, based in Florence, Italy had raised about $1.5 Million (€1.1 M) in the venture financing round. The investment was provided by X-Capital S.p.A. ($1.2 M/ €0.9 M) and Italian Angels ($0.27 M / €0.2 M) – Source: Biofuels International, Italy.

Agroils Technologies focuses on innovative processes enabling the production of superior quality biofuels, animal feed and molecules of pharmaceutical interest from no-food Jatropha energy crop. The Italian company intends to use the proceeds from the financing to develop its technology to produce biofuel, protein biomass for animal feed and Jatropha. Their solution has already helped many Jatropha farmers to optimize their production in Senegal, Nigeria and Dominican Republic.

This is only one of many success stories of start-ups that have successfully closed their funding round following the program. Give yourself a chance to succeed as well : www.europeancleantechchallenge.com ! Please note that registration and submission deadline is August 24th.

Cleantech Grants, Awards, Incentives

With now over 385 cleantech grants, awards and incentives mapped, from over 20 countries and with a total value of over $26 billion, Skipso is fast becoming the most up-to-date and comprehensive portfolio of grants available on the web.

The goals we set when we launched this new service back in June were the following:

  1. To compile an extensive list of Cleantech grants from individual countries as well as regions from across the globe in order to produce the most up-to-date and in depth portfolio of worldwide grants available on the web.
  2. To make the ‘Grants’ section of the platform user friendly and informative to our users so that a much clearer picture of global funding opportunities can be visualised by use of interactive maps and tables.
  3. To tailor grants to your individual needs via a grant alert system allowing instant updates of new funding opportunities that can be used to finance your research.

Over the last two months we have made great progress towards these goals. Every week new exciting grants are added to the database as our team tries to uncover all the latest sources of funding that have been publicly announced.

In an effort to make the Cleantech Grants section of Skipso more user friendly and informative so that a much clearer picture of global funding opportunities can be visualised, we have also recently launched the Skipso Grant Finder.

The Skipso Grant Finder

In order to keep you up to date with all the new grants, awards and incentives as well as the upcoming deadlines for application we have also recently released a Weekly Skipso Grants Digest, a useful snapshot with all the latest activities. We will post this update at the end of each week in our community section.

As we approach the great milestone of 400 grants in our database, we believe there are still many more grants, awards and incentives to uncover as new funds from the U.S. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) are announced and also as our research team shifts the focus to other countries as well.

We would also like to encourage any of you with information of new cleantech grants to contribute directly to our database by submitting the relevant information in our user generated section. This will  make our grants section even more comprehensive and up to date.

Finally, if you are a cleantech grant provider or an organization promoting an environmental award, we would be extremely keen to talk to you to discuss collaboration opportunities.

We’ll keep you posted with our progress.

See you soon on Skipso!
